WHAT IS THE OPEN ACCESS PROGRAM?

The purpose of this program is to educate and promote access and mobility friendly businesses in the Bear River Region. The program is completely voluntary, and recognizes the effort or commitment of businesses to become more bike, transit, mobility, and service friendly. Through the use of local volunteers, the program hopes to accomplish the following:

  1. To help businesses become more aware of access and mobility best practices for their business and its employees.

  2. To provide information and resources to businesses committed to becoming more accessible for customers of all abilities.

  3. To promote access and mobility friendly businesses to the public by recognizing their efforts online and through a window sticker awarded to businesses that are committed to improving access and mobility for all current and future patrons.

ACCESS AND MOBILITY FRIENDLY BUSINESSES

BRAG staff conducts on-site access and mobility evaluations of local businesses. This evaluation provides an opportunity to educate businesses and their employees of barriers to customers with mobility concerns.

Businesses also have the opportunity to host a presentation for their employees to learn more about serving customers with disabilities, and how they can improve their business space for a safer and happier shopping experience for all.

BUSINESS RECOGNITION

Businesses who participate in the Open Access program will be presented with a program sticker. This sticker recognizes those businesses in our community that are committed to enhancing community mobility through employee training and/or future improvements of their facilities.

Participating businesses are also listed below by clicking the "List of Participating Businesses" button below.
